This has two names, Dorje and Vajra. Dorje means thunderbolt, and vajra means “like diamond”. The Dorje is called the diamond thunderbolt. It is called diamond for its hard-ness, and thunder for the sheer elemental power it has. The Dorje is a symbol of the flash of enlightenment, or sudden insight of any kind.
